Previous Detroit Piston and Saginaw Superior Trojan Darvin Ham is a finalist for the Los Angeles Lakers head coaching career, ESPN claimed Friday.
Ham, an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks, is also scheduled for a next interview for the vacant Charlotte Hornets occupation.
Ham is a finalist to swap Frank Vogel, who was fired in April soon after the Lakers completed 33-49. Ham was an assistant coach for the Lakers from 2011 by way of 2013.
In 2013, he joined Mike Budenholzer’s personnel in Atlanta prior to next Budenholzer to Milwaukee, where by Ham was element of an NBA Championship team in 2021.
Ham, 48, played for Texas Tech before an NBA job from 1996 by way of 2005 with Denver, Indiana, Washington, Milwaukee and Atlanta ahead of ending his job with the Detroit Pistons. Ham was section of the Pistons’ 2004 NBA Championship group.
Other finalists for the Los Angeles Lakers’ job include former Portland Path Blazers head coach Terry Stotts, Golden State assistant Kenny Atkinson, Toronto assistant Adrian Griffin and previous Golden Point out coach Mark Jackson.
At Charlotte, Mike D’Antoni is the most loved to switch James Borrego as the Hornets’ head coach. But Ham was invited for a next job interview. Other candidates incorporate Vogel, Stotts and Atkinson.
In 2020, Ham was linked to head-coaching openings in Chicago, New Orleans and Philadelphia.
