Oregon Department of Education paying $1.9 million to train teachers against Western values of ‘individualism’

Oregon’s Division of Education and learning allotted just about $2 million for a fellowship that would coach K-12 educators from varied backgrounds to reject the “eurocentric worldview” of “individualism,” Fox News Electronic has learned.

The full expense for the 23-month task will be $1,929,637.50. The fellowship will teach at most 600 educators how to make “racially affirming environments” in their lecture rooms. Affirming indicates that the teachers’ identities are “noticed” and “honored” in school rooms, ODE told Fox News Digital.

The fellowship will “deepen educators’ understanding… of the specific, the institutional and the systemic impacts of racism on faculties and communities.” Fellows will generate their personal job “that disrupts a racist pattern/practice/policy, or operates to liberation/equity/decolonization.”

The fellowship is funded by Oregon’s Scholar Results Act, which prepared to make investments $2 billion in K-12 education and learning, for the intent of “enhancing entry and prospects for students who have been historically underserved in the instruction system.”

In order to qualify, grant applicants need to reveal an “equity lens or instrument” in get to “assure that no focal group or local community is dismissed in the process of group engagement and system progress.
